Hot Garbage

She was on the east coast finishing a film. He was working in London. She express mailed him a printed copy of the finished manuscript. About a week later, she received a letter by post. The envelope contained a single page of white copy paper on which he’d written in black Sharpie in all capital letters, “I AM WILT WILLOUGHBY.” She replied by post in the same fashion, “YEAH. NO SH*T.” As soon as he received her note, he emailed her. Just one word. “FALSTAFFIAN?!” She replied,  “Well, I couldn’t say, ‘a f*ckin’ DRUNK.’ This is poetry, dude.” He picked up the phone and called her. “Who’s the publisher?” “Don’t know yet. Somebody with b*lls.” “So no one then.” They laughed. “Did you come up with a title?” “Yeah. I’m calling it ‘HOT GARBAGE.’ And there’s gonna be a picture of me on the front in a pink corset and panties and thigh highs making an ‘OOPS’ face while pouring a jerry can of gasoline on a raging dumpster fire.” “But that literally has nothing to do with your story.” “You know what they say. Don’t judge a book by its cover.” 🤷🏻‍♀️🧿
